Manuel Sirgo’s Cifocrania (or winged stick insect) is definitely a fine work of art. The crease pattern was also surprisingly easy for such a fantastic result.
The CP is box pleated and divided into 48ths which means it requires a quite large piece of paper. Also, being a stick insect, thinner paper is better.
I much admire Sirgo’s creations since I have a bit of a soft spot for insects and bugs, as you might have guessed.
The Cifocrania makes great use of the paper, especially for the amount of layers used. The only problem I can really see is it requires a lot of just squeezing, pinching and pegging the thick layers in a desperate attempt to make it look even half as good as his one — how he did his, I do not know…
All up, a fantastic design!
