This model, like the spider, begins with a 24×24 square. If anyone can find some good paper with a peacock pattern, please let me know!

Origami Peacock

Steps…

Origami Peacock (step 1)

1. Begin with a 24×24 grid. Make the creases where indicated.

2. Mountain fold.

3. Sink in eight times.

Origami Peacock (step 4)

4. Box pleat. Simultaneously do the same on the other side so keeping the whole model two 24ths in volume.

5. Fold the thick layers together, flattening the model from the middle.

6. The picture here is 2D. It’s actually very thick. Fold and unfold.

7. Open sink fold. You will have to partially unfold the model to achieve this.

8. Repeat steps 6 to 7 on nine other sides. It helps to do all the open sink folds simultaneously

9. Open out the pleats of the front flap.

10. Reasemble adding the folds indicated.

11. Rabbit ear fold the front flap out to the side.

12. Mountain fold whole model in half.

13. Valley fold front flap as far as it will go. Repeat behind.

14. Outside revearse fold.

15. Outside revearse fold.

16. Thin the head with mountain folds.

17. Crimp in the beak.

Origami Peacock (step 18)

18. Valley fold front layer of the wing up. Repeat behind.

Origami Peacock (step 19)

19. Do step 19 on other side of wing.

Origami Peacock (step 20)

20. Pleat wing to shorten it. Tuck pleat behind head.

Origami Peacock (step 21)

21. Shape head and neck.

Origami Peacock (step 22)

22. Spread out tail. Thin legs and shape toes. Shape wings.

Origami Peacock (step 23)

23. Model complete.
